These Days Who Hasn’t Got A Phone?

These days who hasn’t got a phone?

Around 88% of the world has a mobile phone. I got a mobile phone when I was in year 2. I use my mobile phone for: alarm to check the time; calculator to check my answers; music so I can dance like Beyonce; and for different types of apps. My different apps are MusicAlly, instagram and Vine.

In America, they call it a cellphone. Before mobile phones people had landlines. Old mobile phones hardly had any internet and no camera. But they had antenna and they were very big and heavy. Texting was brand new. You had to be at home to make a call before mobiles were invented.

Ben,who is a volunteer in Hackney Pirates, got his first phone when he was 15 years old. He got his phone in 2003, it was a Nokia 3210.

The first mobile phone was made on April 3 1973 by Motorola. The most common use for a mobiles is neither calling nor texting but checking the time. It became common in 1990s.

The first mobile phone cost $4,000 in the US in 1983. Do you know that the present mobile phones have more computing power than the computers used for the Apollo 11 to land on the moon in 1969? Mobile phone users mostly spend their time on games and social networking (49% and 30% respectively). Within 3 minutes of delivery, 90% of text messages are read. More than 4 billion people have mobile phones, but only 3.5 billion use a toothbrush.
